The Technology behind our Wonders
CLAX creations are easy to find all over the world. Producing these engineering miracles is a complex challenge. To do this, we push our ability, as well as the one of our partners, to innovate to new technological standards every day. This obsession with excellence has made us and our team over time, the only company in the world of large acrylic blocks with extremely high-quality standards, with no limitation in thicknesses and size.
The chemical production plants for cast PMMA designed by CLAX are the most advanced in the field, and they’re all located in the industrial area of Rome (ITALY). In compliance with the ISO 14001 environmental protection standards, we are able to guarantee transparency, resistance and absolute traceability of each individual slab or block.
All the production is certified under the regulations of ASME PVHO-1, with extremely high safety factor.
The applications of CLAX products are many: from marine, scientific and medical use to military and food use, as well as specific adhesives for acrylic.
CLAX TOP PRODUCTS
Perclax®
Perclax® is the cast methacrylate produced in Italy and is entirely composed of pure PMMA, a thermoplastic polymer obtained by mass polymerization of monomer by casting.

AQuariA®
The pure cast acrylic blocks of high thickness and high molecular weight, certified for underwater use, is called AQuariA: a unique, extremely strong and clear material developed by CLAX – AQuarium Division.
AQuariA® Acrylics are the top class production of Perclax® PMMA with special chemical and mechanical properties, which make them suitable for underwater use and/or for the construction of large aquariums. AQuariA PMMA can be curved by thermoforming to obtain cylinders and tunnels of large dimensions, maintaining excellent and unaltered optical, physical and transparency qualities and properties.
The AQuariA Brand is guarantee of: physical and chemical properties which consider a constant and static thrust due to water loading on one, or both, the surfaces; 30 years guarantee of color stability, against yellowing; surfaces with a minimum of total transmitted light higher than 92%.

The chemical production units, where the acrylic is created, are located in the industrial area of Rome, the Eternal City, and are well connected with the major Rail, Roads and Freeway networks within Europe. International ports of, Civitavecchia, Naples and Genoa and the international airport of Rome all close by means CLAX can transport products with ease globally.

Final assembly and shipping
The huge acrylic units are sent to the port facility for final bonding / manufacturing and annealing. The facility handles acrylic panels higher than 20×15 Meters and, where needed can handle sections up to 55 Meters in length with weights exceeding 100 tons. These sizes and weights can be easily loaded onto cargo ships for shipping worldwide.

Our R&D team is constantly engaged in the search for new and avant-garde applications and in the improvement of production technologies. We collaborate closely with institutes, universities and consulting companies, both Italian and European, selected on the basis of their scientific expertise on certain topics and innovative thinking.
Research and development
The constant development of innovative products and quality standards with advanced technologies, allows us to satisfy the most varied requests for ideas, products and projects. CLAX highly specialised installation team is constantly in contact with the production team, to overcome engineering barriers and to create materials that perform at the highest levels in the industry.
Quality control
CLAX in-house laboratories perform analytical checks on all products and raw materials purchased. Test results obtained are double checked internally and through external third-party test facilities, ensuring complete traceability and accuracy of all products produced and purchased.
Production flow
Each step of our production flow is carefully planned and constantly verified by CLAX internal QA/QC, and verified by international third parties. All Clax product and production are international certified.
